In terms of bookish goals, 2016 was very much about making a dent in my unread shelf, and tackling my ever expanding book collection. Due to this, I didn't really get to do much of one my favourite bookish things - reread. Don't get me wrong, I did reread a good amount, just not as much as I'd have liked to. I thought about picking up certain books from my shelves, but ultimately didn't delve into them as I wanted to continue checking books off my unread shelf.
Whilst taking a more minimalist approach to reading, book buying, and pretty much all things bookish in the new year, it seems like the perfect time to pick up those books I didn't get round to rereading.
I plan to reread one book from my shelves every month in 2017.

Oh, fun! I did better than I normally do with rereading this year, but still not a main part of my reading.
ReplyDeleteRereading is such fun - finding the balance between rereading and new books can be tough. I reread Dahl, Susan Hill, and currently Harry Potter, but not a lot besides that... To some that's probably a good deal of rereading. Haha!
DeleteGood luck with this! I used to reread often before I started blogging. Now that I own a zillion unread books, I don’t have as much time for it.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Thanks! It can be hard fitting in rereads with a long list of other books you want to get round to!
DeleteI love this. I love to reread, too, and this is a really great list. You should consider doing readalongs for them if you like to do that kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hadn't thought on readalongs, but I'm definitely keeping that in mind!
DeleteThis is such a good idea, and I wish I could commit to something like that. I always say I want to reread my favorite books, and I never make time for it!
ReplyDeleteIt can be hard finding a balance between new titles and rereads - if I can't commit to rereading a favourite book, then picking up a new book by the same author is a good substitute. I know you read a lot of your favourite authors regularly, so you already do that really!
DeletePlanning a year out is commendable! I'm not sure if a schedule like this would help me or not. But I think it's a great idea to keep you on track :) And I think rereading all of Harry Potter was quite a bit of rereading for one year!
ReplyDeletePlanning the year out is easy... Sticking to it is another story :-P
DeleteHaha! I haven't quite finished my reread of Harry Potter just yet. I started book number 6 today, with fingers crossed I'll be finished with 6 + 7 by time the new year rolls round.
I love I Capture the Castle. :) Good choice for a reread. I am a big fan of rereading too - I don't understand when people don't. :)
ReplyDeleteI love returning to I Capture the Castle :-)
DeleteI do not reread but I can see The Secret Garden and Rebecca being worth it. Rebecca is an all time favourite. I tried with Traverlers Wife and had to DNF it. Enjoy
ReplyDeleteOh, really? The Time Traveler's Wife is one of my favourite books... But I can see how it doesn't work for others. It took a reread for me to actually fully appreciate the story and take it all in. Rebecca is also an all time favourite of mine.
DeleteI understand rereading isn't for everyone, but I couldn't imagine being a reader and not rereading. I have a terrible memory though, so that probably plays into my love of rereading!
I enjoyed so much The Secret Garden and Rebecca, good luck!. Emma
ReplyDeleteTwo favourites of mine - thank you!
