Recommended Reading (2017)

Providing I've got my act together, with the arrival of this post you should also see a new page here on 'Reading with Jade' - Recommended Reading

The new page plays host to things I recommend reading, with posts I've shared myself here (a great place to start for new readers of my site) and also books I've read myself over the years that I recommend others read too.

I feel like the list of my own blog posts is curated to showcase some of my favourite posts, as well as those that are popular with my readership and subjects I'm passionate about. By way of book lists, I've organised them in a yearly format and currently have two (2016 & 2017) as I'm only including the full years in which I've been blogging here on 'Reading with Jade'.

Now, on to my recommended reads of 2017!

Mr Mercedes by Stephen King (representing the entire Bill Hodges trilogy)

A lot of the titles shared above are highly rated reads of mine, however my recommended reading isn't about compiling a list of all my five star books, but a list of books that I loved the writing of or that spoke to me on a personal level or they tell a story that I feel others should read too... In a way they are my top books of the year, but not all my top rated books. I hope that makes sense!

IF YOU COULD RECOMMEND JUST ONE BOOK YOU READ IN 2017, WHAT WOULD IT BE & WHY?

    1. The Snow Child was my very last read of 2017 and I held off posting this as I was so sure it would be a new favourite - and right I was!

Thank you, Diane - and to you!

    1. Thanks for sharing, Deb - I've heard quite a few good thoughts regarding A Gentleman in Moscow.

      Happy reading in 2018!

  5. Great list! I've only read 3 on your list - Murder on the Orient Express, The Lake House, and Snow Child but I loved all 3 so I need to check out the rest!

  6. Great list! I loved The Snow Child - a perfect read for this time of year! I haven't read The Lake House, yet but enjoyed another Kate Morton novel. And I used to love to read Agatha Christie in high school - all this talk of her novels with the recent movie release makes me think I am overdue to revisit her.

I haven't pulled together my Best of 2017 list yet - still trying to finish up my December reviews! Soon, though...

Thanks for sharing - hope your 2018 reading is just as good!

    1. I ended the year with The Snow Child and it was honestly the most perfect way to conclude my reading year - just beautiful! I did want to review it here, however I also didn't really want to carry any 2017 reviews over in to 2018 and I only just finished The Snow Child on the day this post went up; squeezing it on to my recommended reading.

I'll keep an eye out for your Best of 2017, Sue! Happy reading in 2018!

  7. I haven't read any of the books off your list, although several of them sound intriguing to me. One of my top reads of 2017 was The War that Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. :)
